Abstract |
In 1999, the Macaulay Library of Natural Sounds at Cornell University began the enormous task of converting its analog tape-based sound collection to digital storage. The collection contains over 160,000 recordings of bird, insect, frog, and mammal vocalizations on different anlogue carriers, acetate disk, cassette, and open reel . The article provides an overview of the critical steps relevant to the digitization process. |
